Nothing’s new flagship model, the Phone 3, has attracted attention in the tech world with its transparent design and $799 price, while also making a name for itself with its durability tests. A teardown and testing process conducted by YouTuber JerryRigEverything revealed important details about the device’s physical strength and internal architecture.
Nothing Phone 3 Shows Off in Durability Test
The Phone 3 is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 processor. The device features a 6.67-inch AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate. The Gorilla Glass 7i protecting the screen performed well in scratch tests. The aluminum frame also demonstrated bending resistance. Although the screen sustained temporary damage during heat resistance testing, it quickly returned to its original state.
The device’s back panel is secured with a strong adhesive, making removal time-consuming. The 489-LED Glyph Matrix lighting system located just below the panel is one of the Phone 3’s most striking features.
The device’s interior layout is designed to be organized and easily accessible. The 5,150 mAh silicon-carbon battery is easily removable. This feature earned the device a “moderate” repairability rating according to the European Union’s repair criteria.
Despite its aesthetically pleasing design, the device also has some technical limitations. The use of a USB-C 2.0 port, in particular, significantly limits data transfer speeds. This is considered a weakness for a premium device.
Overall, the Nothing Phone 3 leaves a positive impression in terms of durability and design. However, certain technical choices make it questionable whether the device is suitable for every user.
